Cancellation Policies
Please Note: We do not overbook our rooms.
Due to our size and limited number of rooms we must enforce our cancellation policies without exception.

- Payment in full is required at the time of reservation. Regrettably, we can no longer hold a room reservation with a credit card guarantee and the promise to pay cash at check-in. When a reservation is made the accommodation is removed from our available inventory. A growing number of guests, to whom we have extended this option, have not arrived as scheduled nor cancelled their reservations. Each time we attempted to retrieve payment the credit card was invalid or the funds were not available. Due to our size and limited number of rooms we require payment in full at the time of reservation.
- Should you need to cancel we require at least 14 day's notice. With the required amount of notice (14 days prior to arrival) we will refund your deposit less a $50 administrative fee.
- Cancellation within 14 days of your scheduled arrival date will result in the loss of your payment unless we are able to re-book your accommodation in full. If we rebook your room we will refund your payment less the $50 administrative fee.
- Same day reservations and reservations made within 14 days of arrival are non-cancelable.
- Guests are responsible for all room charges should the need for early departure arise. The Innkeepers are not
responsible for last minute conflicts or the unforeseen need for early departure; refunds will not be issued for
early departure under any circumstance. Travel Insurance is an affordable way to protect you against
unexpected events.

- Reservations guaranteed with a gift certificate require a credit card number and are subject to the same
guidelines stated above. Late cancellation (within 14 days of arrival) will invalidate the gift certificate and
the gift certificate will not be re-issued.
- In accordance with NY State law the Blue Heron Inn is a non-smoking establishment. Smoking is not permitted
in the any of the guest rooms, common areas, dining rooms, deck or porches. As a safety measure we do not
permit the use of candles or any open-flame product.
- Bruce and Tobi Ahlquist (Owners/Innkeepers) do not live on the premises of the Blue Heron Inn and there are
times (mid-week, most likely)
when a single room
will be the only occupants at the Inn. We live on the southern
end of Findley Lake,, less than 5 minutes away, and are on-call
24 hours a day/7 days a week. If you would like
to make a reservation but
prefer that an Innkeeper remains
on premise overnight, please mention at the time of reservation and we will
be happy to accommodate your request.
